Prepare your meeting in advance. Don’t hesitate to relate short anecdotes and testimonials. Talk about those who appreciate you and your encounters with them; talk about the donors who support you and why they do. Talk about the future, your vision and development plans. However, the person to whom you’re talking probably doesn’t have a lot of time. Learn to be concise and to prioritize: explain what you do, your organization’s vision and what you need to reach your goals.
